Your political views are yours
Political opinions are sensitive, so this site collects as little as possible: nothing about you or your answers ever reaches a server.
The short version
- No account, sign-up, email or name—ever.
- No analytics, advertising or tracking scripts, and no cookies.
- Your results are calculated in your own browser. Your answers are never uploaded.
- By default, answers vanish when you close the tab. Keeping them longer is opt-in.
- Nothing becomes public unless you save or share an image, which never shows individual answers.
What’s stored, and where
So you can move back and forth between stories and revisit answers, your browser keeps one small record named forget-the-label:v2. It contains:
- your answer to each question, including any “it depends” conditions, notes and leanings;
- the situations you said mattered most, and anything you wrote about where the choices missed your point;
- a copy of your answers as they were when you first finished, so we can show what changes if you revisit them;
- whether you’ve opened the party comparison, and whether you chose to keep answers on this device.
By default it lives in your browser’s session storage and is cleared when you close the tab. If you turn on “Keep my answers on this device,” it moves to local storage and stays until you erase it—so anyone else using this browser could see it. Private or incognito windows discard it either way.
What we don’t do
Your answers never appear in page addresses, aren’t sent in any request, and aren’t shared with anyone. Fonts and icons are served from this site, so loading a page doesn’t contact third parties. The only outside sites you’ll reach are party sources you choose to open.
Like any website, the server that delivers these pages may keep standard technical logs, such as IP address and which page was requested. Page addresses show only a story number (and, when you revisit one, which page you came from)—never an answer.
Sharing
The optional share image is drawn in your browser. It shows your overall leanings on the five trade-offs and, only if you switch it on, your closest party overlap. It never includes individual answers, notes or chosen situations, and nothing is uploaded unless you post it yourself.
Erase everything
This removes your answers, notes and results from this browser immediately—including other open tabs of this site.
